HUMAN RIGHTS

As a family-focused brand, Skechers was founded on the philosophy of putting people first – offering comfort and care to its employees and customers, and supporting both with dignity and respect. Human rights is a core value at the heart of how we conduct our business, at every level of our company – from our factories to our suppliers and the rights of our employees.

FACTORIES
Our products are manufactured at independent factories around the world – and we’re committed to working only with vendors who conduct their business ethically and are socially responsible. We adhere to the California Transparency in Supply Chains Act of 2010, requiring that every factory produces our products in compliance with local labor laws, International Labor Organization conventions and our standards on ethics and social responsibility. It’s never acceptable for any Skechers products to be produced using forced or child labor.
  • Through our commitment to the UK Modern Slavery Act, our compliance officers and senior management team produces a statement every year setting out the steps we take to ensure that slavery and human trafficking are not taking place in any of our supply chains or any part of our business.
  • Our factories must design, implement and conduct internal controls to ensure that they are upholding and communicating high standards for their organization. We also have a whistleblower program and compliance line for their employees.
  • We require our manufacturers to inform their employees of our Supplier Code of Conduct and local labor laws, and our manufacturers must certify that they do not employ convict labor, forced labor, indentured labor or child labor.
  • We perform scheduled and unannounced audits to ensure compliance, and maintain internal accountability standards and procedures for employees and contractors regarding company standards for slavery and human trafficking.
  • We train our employees and management about all issues concerning convict labor, forced labor, indentured labor, child labor and human trafficking.
SUPPLIERS

Our suppliers must follow all laws, rules and regulations in their country, including those relating to labor, workplace health, forced and underage labor, and safety and the environment – and are regularly audited to ensure compliance. All must ensure that their employees meet applicable employment age requirements and have completed necessary compulsory education in their country. Suppliers who we learn have violated this Code of Conduct are re-audited and disciplined, up to termination.

  • To ensure that no forced and child labor exists within our supply chain, all potential material vendors used in the manufacture of our products must certify that they do not employ convict labor, forced labor, indentured labor or child labor.
  • Suppliers must maintain a written policy and procedure on the minimum age of employees (which includes an underage labor remediation plan), verify the age of their applicants, maintain pertinent records and ensure that all supervisors and personnel in charge of recruitment are educated on these policies.
  • They must abide by all applicable laws pertaining to mandatory overtime and allow employees to leave the facility at the end of their shift, as well as during their shift in cases of illness or family emergencies. Employees also must be able to terminate their employment in accordance with their labor contract.
  • Our employees and management are trained on all issues regarding convict labor, forced labor, indentured labor, child labor and human trafficking.

EMPLOYEES

We treat all of our employees with professionalism and dignity – and we’ve provided compliance guidelines and resources to make sure that they can express their concerns regarding any ethical matters. This includes our Whistleblower Policy and a confidential resource to report any issues.

  • All full-time and part-time corporate employees in the United States must undergo harassment and diversity training, and we require employees of our wholly-owned operations in other countries to comply with their local laws regarding human rights, harassment and diversity training in the workplace.
  • As it relates to our factories and suppliers specifically, we provide employee and management training to ensure that everyone who oversees our production and manufacturer auditing knows the most current issues regarding human rights, such as convict labor, forced labor, indentured labor, child labor and human trafficking.
